Built in 1893 as a memorial to Civil War veterans, the Memorial Opera House is a historic landmark. In it's early days, the Opera House was a gathering place for community meetings and political rallies, as well as minstrel shows, vaudeville, and concerts. The early luminaries who visited the Opera House included Theodore Roosevelt, William Jennings Bryan, the Marx Brothers and John Phillip Souza. We continue that honored tradition today with Broadway quality theatrical productions, nationally recognized concert acts, comedy shows, and symphony orchestras with current day stars like Edward Asner, Jim Gaffigan, Willie Nile and many more.
