Supporting the Memorial Opera House Foundation is a means of contributing to quality of life of Porter County and beyond. The Opera House sprang to life in 1893, and continues to be a gathering place for the community. As soon as you walk through the doors of the building, you can’t help but fall in love with Memorial Opera House and experience the magic in a venue where John Philip Sousa and The Marx Brothers performed. Whether it’s to experience a Broadway quality musical or play, concert, cabaret or youth theatre program, people from all walks of life come through the doors to experience the arts and leave with a smile on their face and a song on their lips.

Historic buildings need care and restoration, which requires careful planning, and Memorial Opera House is no exception. Members of the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) were familiar with the importance of planning when they set out to make history in the early 1890s. Porter County’s delegation helped change the law in Indianapolis to make securing funds for the Memorial Opera House possible. History has potential to repeat itself, as you now have the opportunity to help set the course to preserve a building that means so much to the people of Northern Indiana.

All monetary donations made on this website will benefit the Memorial Opera House Foundation, an independent non-profit 501(c)3 corporation separate from the Memorial Opera House which is owned and operated by Porter County government.
