The Memorial Opera House presents a night of Blues Music, September 12th at 7pm.
The Memorial Opera House presents legendary Blues great, Donald Kinsey, Northwest Indiana's Planetary Blues and the Energy Commission for a night of Blues music on Friday, September 12th starting at 7pm.
Donald Kinsey (born in Gary, Indiana ) is an American guitarist and singer . He is known for fronting The Kinsey Report (formed in 1984 with brothers Ralph and Kenneth Kinsey, and Ron Prince), as well
as touring and recording with Albert King , Peter Tosh , Bob Marley & The Wailers , Roy Buchanan and Big Daddy Kinsey . He is one of three sons of the late blues performer Lester "Big Daddy" Kinsey. Donald will headline this concert and take the stage at approximately 9:15PM.
PLANETARY BLUES…Three brothers. One band. One mission. Planetary Blues, based in Valparaiso is formed by the trio of Martin Schaefer-Murray (guitar and lead vocals) Bobby Schaefer-Murray (bass) and Michael Schaefer-Murray (guitar). The band has been paying dues in Midwest bars and at local festivals for nearly a decade. Planetary has organized shows with Son Seals and the Kinsey Report, as well as played the Chicago Blues Festival.
ENERGY COMMISSION is Danielle Cales - A beautiful singer-songwriter that walks the thin line of
complex moving poetry and down to earth sensible lyrics. Hip Hop with hippie soul, folk sensibility, and the attitude of rock-n-roll. Genre defying and provocative - no sound is out of bounds.
