The Recycling & Waste Reduction District of Porter County announces the arrival of their new mascot, "Glen the Garbologist". Glen has been the cartoon mascot of the Recycling & Waste Reduction District of Porter County since 2005, helping children appreciate the importance of recycling and caring for the environment.
Now Glen will arrive as a larger than life mascot to assist in carrying the message of The Recycling & Waste Reduction District of Porter County at special events, such as the annual Earth Day celebration at Sunset Hill Farm County Park on Saturday April 19, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
"The District is thrilled to welcome our new staff member! Ever since Glen's debut on Lakeshore Broadcasting he has engaged the interest of all ages in the quest to create a cleaner, 'greener' Porter County by teaching about the importance of recycling." says Deanna Greenwood, education coordinator for the Recycling & Waste Reduction District of Porter County.
Glen will join Sunny Bunny on stage for the Bunny Hop at the Memorial Opera House. Saturdays March 15th & March 22nd from 11 am to 2 pm admission is free. The Bunny Hop takes place at 11 am, 12 pm and 1 pm. Kids can also get their Easter photos taken.
"The Opera House is excited to have Glen debut on our stage with Sunny Bunny, two sure signs of spring, Easter and Earth Day. " says Michele Craig, Memorial Opera House Children's Theatre Director and Special Events Coordinator.
Glen will be promoting the 3rd annual, Northwest Indiana Earth day at Sunset Hill Farm County Park on Saturday April 19, from 10:00am to 3:00pm for How-to Workshops, Food, Eco-Friendly vendors and so much more.
